IMBEWU South Africa is a non-profit NGO founded in 2001 through the encounter of people from South Africa and Switzerland. Its aim is to initiate or coordinate sustainable participative projects, working with local communities of the Eastern Cape Province, in order to create conditions which will enable South African youth to envisage a future of equal opportunities and success.
IMBEWU (meaning a “seed” in Xhosa language) South Africa is convinced that “it is better to build children, than to repair men”. Therefore, we are working to improve the overall quality of life of South African children and to strengthen, in the long-term, the community. Our targeted beneficiaries are children with underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds at the age of compulsory school, that is from 4 to 18/19 years old, mainly located within the Townships of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality.
